Marve is a pro style QB whereas Boyd isnt, why even ask such a dumb question.
so they would rather have a terrible pro-style qb than a good dual-threat??
it's not a dumb question to ask why a school would want a kid who can't start for a 7-6 ACC team, while at the same time rejecting a kid who is an Army All-American...sounds more like dumb logic than a dumb question

I don't think they turned down Boyd. They told him he didn't exactly fit their system as a pro style QB, he then told him that he would honor his scholly but wasn't guaranteed to be playing QB. He could fight for it and if he won great but if not he was going to be moved to another position. I don't think Boyd's father liked hearing that so he decommitted. Now it looks as if he will either be a Buckeye, Duck, or Eagle.
I like Marve and IMO he is very similar to Chris Leak, he will be a good college QB but that will be as far as he will go. He throws one pretty ball.
And just because he is an Army All-American doesn't mean squat. There have been plenty of bust who have graced the nation at the Army game. People who get caught up on recruiting stars are a complete joke, seems like to me there are more 2-3 stars that end up being your best and most productive players on the collegiate level. Normally your 5 stars are bust, not all, but quite a few never see a college field.
Just as an example look at some of the Big 12 QB's that made a huge splash this year, what were they rated coming out of HS.
2005 Class
Chase Daniel (Mizz) - 3 star
Zac Robinson (OSU) - 3 star
Colt McCoy (Texas) - 3 star
Notable 4 and 5 star recruits ahead of them (Ryan Perrilloux , Jake Christensen, Ike Whitaker, Josh Portis, Kyle Reed, need I go further) These were the Top 5 in that class.
Just a couple of more,
Todd Ressing (Kansas) - 3 star
Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) - 3 star, won the Heisman
So basically, stars don't mean shiz.
2006
i'm just stunned they feel that 2 years of Marve would be better than 4 years of Boyd
I don't think BC is that serious of a player for Boyd, I think it's Oregon and Ohio State and I'd say OSU has the edge
whoever gets him will have a pretty good player on their hands...I wish we hadn't decided to give Kevin Newsome the Tyrod treatment and had recruited Boyd hard from day 1...not too many Phoebus kids come out of there without going to VT
I think OSU has the edge also, I am suprised he hasn't already committed to them.
I also think Boyd would be one heckuva QB and wish he would have stayed at UT but Kiffin evidently knows someting we don't. Guess we will have to wait a couple of years to see.
btw, I never said anything about stars...maybe that wasn't directed at me, I don't know
you're preaching to the choir as far as stars and ratings go...most of VT's best players were very underrated in high school
Jimmy Williams 2-stars
Michael Vick 4-stars (but only other school to heavily recruit him was Syracuse)
Jake Grove 2-stars
Jeff King 2-stars
there's tons more...most of the kids VT has put in the NFL are 2 and 3 stars...we haven't had a top 15 class that I can remember but we've been near the top of the list for putting the most players in the NFL for the past 3 years including being outdone only by USC last year by 1 or 2 players

No it wasn't, sorry about that, you were just the unlucky one that replied last during my rant. Again, sorry.
I think Oregon has the advantage. Does Boyd want to go sit behind Pryor for two seasons? I doubt it.
maybe if Oregon weren't in Oregon
